Personal Pics

Hawaii, April 2007

First overnight port.

image

Imagine this for your private beach. :)

image

Huge headphones, eh? Strapped in with no doors and hanging on for dear life; you'll see why in the next pic.

image

Maybe hell is in a volcano? Oh man! feel the heat.

image

image

A little higher up:

image

Hot lava rolling into the sea:

image

Lava fields. Yes, they rebuild on them -- even with hot lava still flowing nearby.

image

Taking a stroll on this cloudy day at the beach; our ship's in the background.

image

Followed by a swim:

To get a better look at this sacred ground:

Naval station.

image

Lookee! something's spouting in the water.

Goodbye from Waikiki Beach with new friends from cruise. These pics were reduced in size, I really was smiling a little -- just feeling very queasy and dizzy making it difficult to stand still; I developed sea legs just fine but reclaiming my land legs was a much bigger feat. LOL, no one ever warns you about that! Besides, they made me get out of that glorious water. <pout> image I'm in the dark top. image

In what other land save this one
is the commonest form of greeting not
"Good day," nor "How d'ye do", but "Love"?
That greeting is 'Aloha':
love, I love you, my love to you...
It is a positive affirmation
of the warmth of one's own heart-giving.
~Jack London

Ponderous thoughts

shame
it need not exist
and pride need not fear what a
working instinct may shine the light upon
for that merely opens the door of forgiveness
enabling the beauty of truth so one may live in peace
such a large sacrifice was made for freedom
and not for a hidden life so why trade
that freedom for darkness?
not me! i choose
real life

Parting Thoughts

image Some see copying as violating a right, others as a form of flattery. It can go either way. I do ask that if you find something that interests you on this page and intend to use it: please give me the credit by name or link and letting me know. MANDATORY if it is my words, please do not take personal pics. Or, if it simply sparked a new idea, I hope you will consider sharing that with me as it would be fun to know what you did with it. Feedback is always appreciated.

Thanks so very much, hope you enjoyed the visit!

Added friends, please help yourself to smileys I have collected from free sites; there is a folder in my images. It's the only one "open".

note d'agrément: dans le vent

I didn't want the world to see me,
just wanted you to know who I was;
Know all that is gold does not glitter
nor all those who wander are lost.

Now some like to see brave ones broken,
watch them hang by a thread on a cross;
Yet those who grow strong do not wither,
their deep roots are not reached by frost.

Warmth was that one thing I was seeking
but I saw they would not understand;
That's why you bleed: to know you're alive
never caring to first count the cost.

The sun 'though, it does go on shining
giving strength to fight coming tears back;
Still you bleed, just to know you're alive.
in that moment of truth, lies and loss.

Yes, all that is gold does not glitter,
nor all those who wander are lost.
So you bleed, just to know you're alive.

May you have...

For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.

For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

  1. Guess who's now employed!

    09/29/09 10:41:41 | 0 Comments

    Yes, of course me! I am now employed! image Woohoo! I got the job at ------- (a health-oriented grocery store). I thought I was done selling vitamins but after 10 months of unsuccessfully finding another job, I am more than happy to assist folks coming into a store for supplements. So yes, please see me -- I'm only too glad to help.

  3. Prayers needed, please...

    09/13/09 20:21:13 | 0 Comments

    I have some momentous events happening these first few days of the week and would appreciate prayer for some huge decisions I must make that will affect the future of my daughter and me. Please pray that fairness towards us will prevail, and that I will be led to make the choice that will give us the best possible outcome.

    Thank you, and I hope you each have a great week!
  4. Did Jaycee homeschool?

    Aunt comments...

    Tina Dugard said her niece's daughters appeared to be bright and educated, even though they did not attend school. "Jaycee did a truly amazing job with the limited resources and education that she herself had, and we are so proud of her," Dugard said. Y'know, I've been wondering about that especially after...

    Poor, poor pup-pup. She just got stung, too, and I think by the same scorpion! The little mutt won't get out of her bed now. image (Sorry the pic is so poor, used my cellphone this time.)

    I know it's been... "tough" (every word feels like an understatement) but know that I'm here and always will be. I will always be ready to pray, listen and do anything else I possibly can... (If only I had money!) Hugs and blessing to you ~ always.

Current and Recent Reads

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

The World According to Bertie
by Alexander McCall Smith An unoriginal title perhaps but fitting as we are treated to little Bertie's precocious worldview. Enjoyable read! What other author can bring so much wit, trivia knowledge and human insights into a light read?

Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe Bad luck followed by bad company followed by bad choices followed by more bad luck followed by worse choices and worse luck followed by a wee bit of good luck gotten by bad means working its way toward a somewhat good end, at least for the protagonist, and good for me because now this bad book is over.

Unashamed by Francine Rivers Fictionalized account concerning the biblical story of Ruth.

To the Lighthouse
by Virginia Woolf Thank goodness, it's over! Okay, it has insightful looks into the human existence and lyrical prose but it's not all that enjoyable trying to wade through "streams of consciousness" figuring out what it all means and how each thought or word connects. Could be that this is why someone wrote a play named, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Of Mice and Men
by Steinbeck

The Comforts of a Muddy Saturday by Alexander McCall Smith

Home by Marilynne Robinson While the prose may show deep depth in the author's understanding of human emotions and that which they portray by not sharing, the dialogue between the two characters seems stiff. Perhaps it is meant to be that way as these two siblings were never particularly close as children and one of them has been gone from the family for 20 years. It seems very dreary at times, one constantly feels these little sparks that something is about to change for the better but then the spark dies out. Let's see how it goes these last 30 pages.

An International Episode
by Henry James

Their Eyes Were Watching God
by Zora Neale Hurston (a reread for book discussion, I've found it very timely and affirming; it's truly an extraordinary story, very touching the way in which it is portrayed, enjoyed the dialect, too).

This Must Be The Place
by Anna Winger (setting modern-day Berlin, two people from different backgrounds discover friendship at a sort of crossroads in life there is some reference to the story's time of post9/11 but there is more build-up in post-holocaust Germany although I don't recall a comparison between the two)

Neither Here Nor There -- Just Pondering Little Truths ;)

For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it.
For every truth there is an ear somewhere to hear it.
For every love there is a heart somewhere to receive it.
~Ivan Panin

Don't go for happiness, go for truth!
~Charles Tart

No matter what you believe, it doesn't change the facts.
~Al Kersha

~ ~ ~

How to approach a liar?
Alas, it is not advised -- once caught and confronted, there is no reasoning with one; they will always misinterpret every further communication in the wrong light. The internal struggle of those misinterpretations will be received as a threat and may invoke a great deal of anger. Best not to tread at all, no matter how honest the statement or innocent the inquiry, it will indeed be wrongly perceived. Forgive them but then walk away quietly; do not even turn around to ask if you left your comb in their car or anything like that. They hate you for knowing the truth. ~GW

The great advantage about telling the truth is that nobody ever believes it. ~Dorothy L. Sayers

The great disadvantage about telling the truth is that nobody ever believes it. ~Gracewings

I tore myself away from the safe comfort of certainties through my love for truth - and truth rewarded me. ~Simone de Beauvoir

What upsets me is not that you lied to me, but that
from now on I can no longer believe you. ~Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

~~~
We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people. ~John F. Kennedy
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. ~John 8:32
The truth is cruel, but it can be loved, and it makes free those who have loved it. ~George Santayana
Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lies comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, around him, and so loses all respect for himself and others. ~Fyodor Doestoyevsky
Occupation
I've been a big fan of message boards these past several years -- enjoy having my own board as well as visiting, moderating and administrating at others. I've learned a lot about people
here in this cyberworld. Many times it's been lovely,
sometimes painful but that's growth for ya! ;)
I really am working to strike a balance at allowing some time for creativity that I can actually put my hands on. Seriously looking for paid employment, and actively volunteering with hospice,
a pancreatic cancer research organization and
recordkeeping for the community HOA
music, gardening, herbalism, collecting quotes & gifs, needlework and when I'm not doing those, I enjoy spending
time getting to know people here in the cyber world.
